When the year is ending and a new year is about to start we go through times of reflections.
We reflect on the things that happened and the things that could not happen… we also reflect on the things we wish could have happened but never happened.
But the word of God says “in all things give thanks”. It didn’t say in only the good things but it says All things. So guess what you don’t have a choice but to be thankful. There’s a saying that “as long as there is life there is hope”
Some very long time ago I used to write down resolutions and in those resolutions I used to set very high standards and goals for myself and at the end of each year I felt so disappointed and less thankful.
But I once learnt to keep track of the good things that happen through out the year, I realise that it always brings smiles on my face and makes me so thankful.
I have learnt that you cannot control everything that happens to you but you can control all your actions and reactions to the things that happen. Not to say do not set goals and standards.
Many things might not have happened the way you wish them to, but the word of God says ” He causes all things to work together for our GOOD” again the word of God says ” the steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord” and yet again our famous Psalm 23 ” He leads me in the path of righteousness for His name sake”
To take “He causes all things…” it means that nothing happens by chance… so yea! Some things happened in 2017 that were not so good but remember ” He causes”!!! Don’t give yourself credit for anything that happened don’t try to even credit yourself with the bad things because “He causes”…
The other verse says “the step of the righteous..” I see you are about to pull the righteousness card well you can… but the truth is, its not what you do or didn’t do that makes you righteous it’s the Blood that was shed that has given us a good standing with Him so if you have accepted Christ then there’s no argument your steps are ordered!!! So maybe in 2017 things didn’t go as you wanted or wished they would, guess what!! stop being hard on yourself your steps are ordered…!
O then the famous Psalm ” He leads me in the path….” and look at how it ends “for His name sake” I see that God’s reputation is at stake here. The path that we take is ordered by him because he knows that we bare His name… so yes maybe things didn’t really turn out the way you wanted it to in 2017 but guess what God’s reputation is tied to all that happens and the things that happened cannot be accidents they happened for God’s honour to be complete.
The Bible says “in this world you will have many troubles but be of good cheer I have over come the world”
So be of good cheer… 2018 is coming and you can do the things you could not do, you can correct what you think were mistakes and you can begin new things.
