So far the passage keeps talking about submitting but some how the concluding verse says ‘respect’.
Its actually no ones native nature to respect. Respect is a character trait that is acquired. You learn to show respect, so theres no excuse when it come to this one. If you want to respect your husband you would learn to do it.
What do you do to show respect;
Your speech, some of us do not talk respectfully to our husbands, our words can pierce and kill, we are not intentional with what we say. Your role as a wife is to says things that will build your husband up and not tear him down. Eph 4:29.
Sometime, we do not give our husbands the opportunity to express themselves… immediately they start talking you take the wind out of the sail. It really discourages them and makes them feel less of a man. Someone will say; ‘when i say one she says thousand. We have to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. James 1:19
Our body language sometimes spells more respect than even our words. We sometimes even do it so much that others around realise that you do not respect your man. Maybe you are upset or things are not going the way you wish but let your posture be one of reconciliation and not war. There is a way you can get an apology without asking for it ‘we need to read our husbands to be able know how’. A humble woman is attractive. Prov. 31
A disrespectful woman is not attractive to a man. Men are created to lead and to be given respect so if you keep disrespecting your husband, you keep pushing him away and eventually he can be pushed into a respectful lady’s arms. Thats because they prefer to be at a place where they are treated with respect and as a king.
Men have ego, they were wired to lead and feel macho, they never want to fill unable or inadequate so your constant disrespect injures his ego and affects every aspect of his life. Their social, work, family and sex life become dysfunctional when they are disrespected.
So even when you want to complain or talk about something that needs to be worked on. You start with praise and compliments. Just begin to appreciate the little things he does and add your complains or disappointment. They will work on it fast because you have raised him up to where he wants to be all the time. Compliments before complain.
We have come to the end of this series on a role of a wife. It is my prayer that we take to heart the things God is speaking to us about and we begin to practise them and see how God will reward us. God bless you and stay connected God will drop more seeds for us to help build us up.
