We can never be confused about what love is because God is love. 1 John 4:7-8
You know a person loves you if they exhibit all these qualities;
Love is patient; means that the person should be ready to give you another 5 minutes all the time. Interesting, but that’s the simplest way to say it. Another 5 minutes means that when ever they begin to get impatient about a situation they must be willing to give you time; be it to change or to make a decision.
Love is kind; kindness never depends on the response you get from the other person. It’s usually a natural reaction to a situation that calls for an expression of care and concern.
Love does not envy; no matter how much you have or how much you don’t have the person is never exhibiting an attitude of ” I want some or I wish I were you”. The person exhibits a sense of contentment with what they have themselves and does not seek to want yours in addition. If anything they are willing to give you all the have and not always take from you.
Love does not boast; that person who loves you will not feel like they always have more than you have or they are better than you. They do not feel like you are lucky to have them, kind of attitude. They are rather grateful you have each other.
Love is not proud; they are the first to realise their fault and always willing to apologise. When they are prompted of wrong they quickly acknowledge it and willing to make amends. They are humble and never feel too big to do little things for you.
Love does not dishonour others; when a person loves you they are not rude to you. They talk to you with respect and always want to make you feel valued. They are careful how they treat you especially when others are around.
Love is not self seeking; they do not only look to their own interest but your interests too. It’s not all about them but about you and us. What makes you happy and what makes both of us happy.
Love is not easily angered; forgiveness is part of their nature when a person loves you. Sometimes they even make good excuses for you when you don’t show up or do something wrong. They know they are not perfect and so are you.
They keep no records of wrong if they love you. They do not always remind you of the wrong things you do. They let go of your mistakes and are willing to always give you a clean sheet. Starting over is not a big deal for them.
They don’t delight in evil but rejoice with the truth; when you do something wrong they are able to tell you without fear of feeling you will not be happy. They do not help you to do things that are evil but rather, they advice you to do good. When you have do the right thing they cheer you on and encourage you to keep doing what is right. They are usually the ones that are fair and honest with you all the time.
Always protects; when someone loves you, they protect you, they are always concern about your safety, they protect you from people who do not treat you well and always makes sure you are okay.
Always trusts; love trusts when you are standing alone. They believe what you say and take you by your word. They know you wont bring them harm and will not give you harm too.
Always hopes;hope is a joyful expectation that events will turn out for the best. That is the attitude that a person who loves you should have. They believe that you will make it at all cost and will encourage you and you edge on especially in difficult times.
Always perseveres; when someone loves you they do not give up on you easily, they maintain a purpose of being with you in spite of difficult times.
Love never fails!!! you can always count on a person who loves you.
One greatest test of love is time. To be sure that someone loves you, give it time. Do not rush into marriage because the person has shown you love for about 3-6 months, give the love a test of time, give it another 6 months or a year and when you are still not sure take your time and give it more time until you are sure, because time will always tell.
